Not a lot of people are aware that not only do WeWOOD watches have excellent eco-friendly credentials, WeWOOD Watches are also completely toxin free and hypoallergenic, which means that our watches are suitable for people that suffer with the following skin complaints such as dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema.

WeWOOD watches are also nickel free which in itself is an allergy that means that sufferer is probably unable to a wear a watch unless that watch is not made from a material that contains nickel, which so many of the watches on the market nowadays do.  Some questions we get asked a lot by our customers who suffer from skin allergies:

Are the watches made completely from wood?

Answer - Yes, with the exception of the clasp which is made from metal however this is such as small part of the watch it is unlikely in our experience to cause a reaction.

Is the back of the face made from wood?

Answer - Yes the back of the face is made from wood.  One of the main causes of watch reactions is that a watch can claim its hypoallergenic however the back of the face is made from a metal that can cause a nickel reaction that ca be a waste of time and money to the purchaser.

Whilst we can never fully guarantee that a WeWOOD Watch would not cause a skin reaction we have taken extreme care to ensure that our watches are produced in an toxin free environment and made from materials suitable to most allergy sufferers.

All the wood used to make our watches is 100% natural and untreated. They are then coated with an organic protection which is the same used on chop sticks to repel sweat, moisture and splashes of water. We have even tested our watches with personal trainers in gyms to see how they would stand up to a constant amount of perspiration and 6 months later the watch has stood up to this kind of extreme testing.

A Nickel allergy is the most common reaction to a non-hypo allergenic watch as when a watch releases nickel the wearer over time sometimes after many years of exposure can find they have outbreaks such as a rash more information https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/nickel-allergy/basics/definition/con-20027616 All WeWOOD watches are non nickel releasing and perfectly safe for nickel sufferers.

Its true! We do not cut down or hurt any trees for the production of our watches.  We only use recycled or reclaimed wood that has been carefully selected not only for its quality but also for fact that that we have a passion for sustainable fashion and we want to make sure that we are contributing to the fashion and jewellery market in a positive way.

At WeWOOD we take our time in selecting the woods we use, not only to make sure they look great but also to ensure that the wood is completely natural and not harmful to the wearer.  All of the woods we use are rigorously tested to make sure that they are 100% toxin and chemical free.  We are aware that there are some wooden watches that are on the market that do use wood that either has not been fully tested or could potentially be harmful when worn in close contact with the skin, rest assured this is something you will not have to worry about with a WeWOOD wooden watch.

7.  All WeWOOD designs are unique and created and owned by WeWOOD.

All of the watches designed by WeWOOD are unique and have been created by our talented team of designers based in Italy.  Whilst WeWOOD certainly did not come up with the idea of wooden watches (Tissot originally released a wooden watch in the 1980's) WeWOOD are most definitely responsible for bringing the trend back! 8.  Our watches come with a 24 month global warranty.

9.  Nickel free watches

Not only are our watches hypoallergenic and made from 100% natural wood they are also nickel free too.  Having a nickel allergy can be extremely frustrating especially if you want to wear a watch but you are unable to do so due to this very common allergy.  Our watches have a wooden plate on the back on the watch as opposed to the standard metal plate at the back, this is where most allergies start from due to the close and constant contact with the skin. However with a WeWOOD wooden watch this is something you will not have worry about.  So if you know someone that would like to wear a watch that is unable to do so for this reason then why not recommend or treat them to a WeWOOD to brighten their day.

In Central Intibuca our local technicians have worked with producers in the community of El Sorto to decide the most appropriate trees to plant that would best suit the local communities. Farmers have planted Spanish cedar, Mahogany and Acrocarpus as quality timber producers, citrus, Mulberry, and bananas for fruit production. At the same time farmers planted Calliandra was which was planted for coffee, when the Caliandra is pruned and leaves are used to fertilise coffee cutting commercial fertiliser use by two thirds.  Through our tree planting efforts in this area we have increased income through fruit sales and increased and stabilised the local coffee harvest. We have increased local nutrition through consumption of fruit and Mulberry leaves. Also Farmers now have a long term investment in the form of high quality timber planted in coffee plantations.
